This move strengthens Azelis’s presence in Italy and enhances its position in key market segments.

ITALY – Azelis has acquired Azienda Chimica e Farmaceutica (‘ACEF’), an Italian distributor of speciality raw materials and ingredients for the cosmetic, nutraceutical, galenic and pharma industries.
This move is set to allow customers to gain access to an expanded and integrated product lineup, enhanced technical solutions, and more profound expertise tailored to specific market needs.
This move strengthens Azelis’s presence in Italy and enhances its position in key market segments.
Marco Gerosa, Managing Director at Azelis Italy, said, “We continuously strive to deliver innovation through formulation, and ACEF’s value proposition fits perfectly with our objective.”
“The addition of their portfolio and technical capabilities reinforces our footprint in the personal care and galenic markets and expands our pharmaceutical and nutraceutical offerings.”
ACEF was established in 1940, and it operates three laboratories focused on technical support and quality control, alongside GMP-compliant facilities for pharmaceutical ingredients.
In addition, its subsidiary, Arda Natura, further enhances its portfolio with a specialization in plant extracts and natural products.
In the personal care sector, Acef offers a wide range of speciality ingredients, including fermented rice water, aloe vera-based actives, natural viscosifiers, and plant-based alternatives to silicones.
The company’s portfolio supports clean beauty formulations and includes glycolipids, botanical extracts, and multifunctional cosmetic actives designed for skin and hair care applications.
With a team of over 70 professionals and a customer base exceeding 4,000, ACEF is recognized for its tailored offerings and strong supplier relationships, making it a valuable addition to Azelis’s lateral value chain.
Alberto Piombi, President, and Emilio Zavattoni, CEO and Head of Administration & Finance at ACEF, stated, “With our laboratory capabilities and tailor-made services, we look forward to adding our talents to those of the Azelis teams, leveraging our combined skills to reinforce our position as a leading distributor and bring the best solutions to our customers.”
The acquisition allows Azelis to broaden its product portfolio and technical capabilities, offering customers more comprehensive solutions and enabling principals to expand their market reach.
This move comes after Azelis recently announced a strategic expansion of its personal care portfolio in Latin America through an exclusive distribution partnership with Sharon Personal Care, an Italian-based supplier of innovative ingredient solutions.
This partnership will be effective immediately for Colombia, Peru, and Ecuador.
This agreement enables Azelis to distribute Sharon’s comprehensive range of high-quality personal care ingredients, including advanced emulsifiers, surfactants, active ingredients, and preservation systems, directly to customers in these markets.
