This move marks a significant step in the ongoing movement to reduce single-use plastic in home care.

USA – Whole Foods Market has partnered with Clean Cult to introduce refillable, eco-friendly cleaning products to its shelves.
This collaboration brings Clean Cult’s innovative packaging refillable aluminium bottles and recyclable, paper-based carton refills, into select Whole Foods locations, making sustainable choices more accessible to environmentally conscious shoppers.
According to Whole Foods Market, the initial rollout covers four major regions: the Northeast, the Rocky Mountain, the South Pacific, and Northern California.
Customers in these areas can now find a variety of Clean Cult’s best-selling products, including Fresh Linen and Lavender Laundry Sheets, Juniper Sandalwood and Lavender Liquid Laundry Detergent Cartons, and Fresh Rain and Lemon Zest Dish Soaps.
Ryan Lupberger, CEO and co-founder at Clean Cult, stated, “We built Clean Cult to prove that responsible design and high performance can go hand in hand.”
“Teaming up with Whole Foods Market helps bring that mission to more homes and makes plastic reduction an everyday habit without sacrifice.”
These are offered in both “eternal” aluminum bottles designed for indefinite reuse and recyclable paper-based refills—part of a strategy to create “a cleaner refill ritual” and move away from the throwaway plastic model.
Clean Cult’s entry onto Whole Foods shelves follows strict vetting for ingredient transparency, efficacy, and biodegradability.
This move aligns with Whole Foods’ broader sustainability initiatives, such as banning plastic checkout bags in 2008 and eliminating plastic straws in 2019, and positions Clean Cult as a growing force in the fight against plastic waste, having recently expanded to other major retailers like Costco and Target as well.
This move comes after Clean Cult recently rolled out its line of cleaning products in paper-based refill cartons to 1,800 Target stores across the United States.
The launch includes hand soap, dish soap, laundry detergent, all-purpose cleaner, innovative “first-to-market” aluminium spray bottles, and multi-enzyme cleaning sheets.
Clean Cult unveiled three new signature fragrances—Pink Grapefruit, Water Blossom, and Fresh Rain, as part of its latest product launch.
The partnership aligns with Target’s broader sustainability strategy, which includes a goal of achieving “zero waste to landfill” across all U.S. stores by 2030.
The retailer aims to encourage more circular consumer habits while keeping affordability in mind, through increased availability of low-waste product options.
