Pwani Oil expands portfolio with Sawa Body Lotion line
The product is an addition to the company’s Sawa Brand, further diversifying its personal care lineup.
KENYA – Pwani Oil Group, a leading manufacturer of edible oils and personal care products company in East Africa, has unveiled the Sawa Body Lotion line, expanding on the company’s Sawa Brand.
This diversification is part of a broader strategy to meet evolving consumer needs and tap into the growing demand for skincare solutions among Kenyan households.
The lotions are enriched with cocoa butter, shea butter, glycerin, almond oil, and vitamin E, which are recognized for their nurturing, skin-softening, and reparative properties.
The specialty variants of Sawa Body Lotion include Sawa Hydration Boost, featuring Ginseng Extracts and Cocoa Butter for moisture-locking and revitalization, and Cool Burst, which contains Menthol and Ginseng for a refreshing, cooling effect along with deep hydration.
This move into personal care comes on the back of substantial investments by Pwani Oil in a state-of-the-art manufacturing plant at Kikambala, capable of producing up to 12 tonnes of personal care products daily.
The company’s expansion into lotions, jellies, and other body care products is expected to contribute more than 20% to its overall business by 2032.
The launch comes at a time when the Kenyan personal care market is undergoing dynamic growth, with data pointing to a surge in consumer demand and product diversity.
According to Statista, Kenya’s Beauty & Personal Care market is projected to generate USD 2.44 billion in 2025, with the Personal Care segment contributing USD 1.29 billion to that total.
With a compound annual growth rate of 5.01% through 2030 and a per capita spend of USD 42.58, the market reflects strong consumer demand and long-term expansion.
The launch comes after the company recently launched Sawa Petroleum Jelly to meet consumers’ diverse skincare needs.
Sawa Petroleum Jelly is formulated using quality ingredients to ensure skin protection and deep moisturization, making it suitable for daily skincare routines and relieving dry, cracked skin.
Sawa Petroleum Jelly’s range in stores includes pure petroleum jelly, perfumed petroleum jelly enriched with menthol, and perfumed petroleum jelly enriched with shea and cocoa butter.
According to the company, Pwani Oil’s entry into personal care focuses on safety, sustainability, innovation, automated production for quality, and extensive use of renewable energy, including solar power.
