Downy launches new Gentle Soft + Fresh fabric softener

USA – Downy has introduced Downy Gentle Soft + Fresh, a new fabric softener designed to deliver a delicate balance of softness and freshness while being gentle on the skin.

 This product targets consumers who care deeply about the feel of their laundry but are also mindful of skin sensitivity, offering a fragrance-free and dye-free option that is dermatologically tested to ensure safety and comfort.

In a unique move to highlight the sensory experience of the new fabric softener, Downy launched an innovative campaign featuring a series of original audio romance stories titled “Almost Scandalously Soft Stories.” 

According to the brand, the featured stories are romantic and sensual tales inspired by the comfort and allure of Downy-washed sheets, involving unexpected encounters, supernatural desire, magical portals, and intimate moments.

These immersive, 20-minute audio tales, available on Spotify, aim to evoke the feeling of serenity and softness that comes with fresh, smooth linens. 

By combining the physical softness of fabrics treated with Downy Gentle Soft + Fresh with an emotional and mental escape through storytelling, the campaign offers consumers a rare moment of indulgence and relaxation.

The fabric softener comes in two subtle yet distinctive scents: Ocean Mist, which merges crisp rain, soft lily, and warm sandalwood notes into a clean and uplifting aroma, and Cherry Blossom, which mingles soft petals with a gentle sweetness for a refreshing finish.

According to Redge Abueva, Vice President of North America Fabric Enhancers at Procter & Gamble, Downy’s parent company, the campaign and product together are meant to celebrate those precious little moments when consumers can truly relax and enjoy the comfort of something soft, fresh, and skin-friendly.
