Bormioli Luigi expands its makeup packaging line with sustainable glass lipstick

The launch aligns with rising consumer demand for refills and circular economy principles in beauty packaging.

ITALY – Bormioli Luigi, an Italian glassware company,  has introduced Swing, a refillable and recyclable glass lipstick designed specifically for sustainable makeup packaging.

The Swing lipstick features thin walls and reduced glass content, incorporating up to 15% post-consumer recycled (PCR) material in its construction.

The design includes a removable central ring made from recycled plastic that retains mechanical strength and the familiar closing click sound, allowing consumers to easily separate the components for recycling.

The lipstick is crafted to convey the lightness and elegance of a luxurious product while being refillable in a single motion, nodding to durability and sustainability.

According to the company, customization options are extensive and they can personalize the interior or exterior with lacquers, metallic effects, screen printing, metallization, varnishes, and glazes.

In addition,  the central ring’s color and decoration can be tailored, making it a precious and durable item for luxury beauty brands.

This innovation was showcased at Luxe Pack Monaco 2025, underscoring Bormioli Luigi’s continuing commitment to sustainable and eco-friendly packaging solutions since their recyclable makeup collection launch in 2023.

The company highlights the intrinsic sustainability properties of glass, which is inert and infinitely recyclable, coupling luxury with environmental responsibility.

The Swing lipstick exemplifies Bormioli Luigi’s expertise in combining glass and recycled plastic elements to create packaging that is not only visually appealing and customizable but also aligns with rising consumer demand for refills and circular economy principles in beauty packaging.

Meanwhile, Bormioli Luigi recently has collaborated with Maison Berger, a company involved in air purification and interior fragrances, to supply glass vessels for their latest home fragrance diffusers.

The partnership centres on two new catalytic lamp collections, Echo and Cosy, unveiled as part of Maison Berger’s 2025 lineup.

According to the brand, the glass bottles were designed by the Parisian agency De Vog.

These designs reflect a fusion of artisanal glassmaking and contemporary aesthetics, underscoring both companies’ commitment to craftsmanship and sensory experience.

The Echo line features curved glass designs in shades of pink, frosted, and green, while the Cosy line offers a “padded style” with rounded edges, available in blue or brown.
