Gelita introduces bioactive collagen peptides for targeted skin repair

Curaderm reflects a broader shift toward addressing the entire musculoskeletal and cellular health landscape, with research exploring mitochondrial function and longevity as part of Gelita’s future innovation pipeline.

GERMANY – Gelita AG, a manufacturer of gelatin and collagen peptides, has launched CURADERM, a new bioactive collagen peptide designed to support skin healing, atopic‑prone skin, and gum health.

The company positions it as the first collagen peptide with scientifically substantiated results for both skin and gum care, enabling evidence‑based claims for barrier‑focused products.

CURADERM works by supporting the structural integrity of barrier tissues, strengthening the body’s natural defence and repair systems from within through enhanced collagen production and extracellular matrix formation.

Martin Walter, category manager for Healthy Ageing and Sports Nutrition at Gelita, describes CURADERM as addressing “the serious side of skin care,” focusing on skin‑barrier function relevant to acute or chronic wounds and improved healing, as well as conditions such as atopic dermatitis and gum health.

He notes the ingredient’s potential to reduce medication use and visible redness, alleviating a major burden for people with atopic skin diseases.

Unlike Gelita’s flagship beauty‑focused brand Verisol, which targets aesthetic benefits, CURADERM is intended for therapeutic‑style support, with a higher daily dose of 5–10 g compared with Verisol’s 2.5 g.

Gelita emphasizes that skin‑barrier function is essential for maintaining tissue integrity, regulating inflammation, and enabling effective regeneration. When compromised, it can lead to impaired wound healing and atopic‑prone skin—characterized by dryness, weak barriers, and a reactive immune system.

Emerging science links these conditions to weakened structural integrity, chronic inflammation, and insufficient regeneration. CURADERM aims to counter these issues by supporting tissue strength, modulating inflammatory response, and enhancing regeneration.

It promotes collagen formation and extracellular matrix stability, helping to reduce transepidermal water loss, lower inflammatory stress, and improve overall skin resilience.

The ingredient also fosters an “optimal biological environment for repair” by stimulating fibroblasts and keratinocytes, supporting angiogenesis, and guiding inflammation toward efficient healing.

In oral health, CURADERM strengthens the gums’ connective tissue and supports regulation of inflammatory processes, helping maintain strong, healthy gums over time when used alongside routine oral hygiene or professional treatment.

Beyond beauty, Gelita highlights growing interest in collagen for sports and active aging, where connective‑tissue health is key for injury prevention and recovery.

Gelita AG offers a wide portfolio of gelatin and collagen-based products that serve food, nutrition, pharmaceutical, medical, and technical industries.

Its range includes specialized gelatins for capsules and gummies, bioactive collagen peptides for health and sports nutrition, and technical gelatins for imaging and industrial uses.
