Xindeco’s new ultra-small RFID packaging tags solve beauty, accessory tracking problems

CHINA – Xindeco IoT has expanded its VersaTrack RFID tag portfolio with Gen2X-enabled VersaMax and VersaNano tags, enabling retailers to track previously untaggable beauty, cosmetic and accessory items where liquid, metal and tiny packaging dimensions blocked traditional RFID signals.
The Xiamen, China-based RFID manufacturer developed the tags to overcome three persistent packaging challenges: tiny product dimensions requiring minimal tag footprints, liquid and metal content in beauty products that interfere with traditional RFID signals, and the need for high-density reading accuracy when tags are stacked or facing each other on store shelves.
The VersaNano tag is smaller than the VersaMini, which measures 35 by 15 millimeters and can be trimmed down using proprietary antenna technology that maintains read performance.

Miniso has deployed Xindeco’s VersaMini RFID tags across cosmetics, accessories and other compact merchandise categories, with the rollout now expanding into Europe.
The VersaTrack family is powered by Impinj M800 endpoint ICs with Gen2X support, which enables faster read speeds and improved performance in challenging RF environments.
Leo Ren, general manager of R&D at Xindeco, said that cosmetics, jewelry, health and beauty items, and accessories used to be difficult to tag because of their smaller sizes, packaging challenges, and use of liquid and metal materials.
He explained that Xindeco’s VersaTrack family, powered by Impinj M800 endpoint ICs, was helping Miniso extend RFID to categories that had traditionally been difficult to tag.

Matt Branda, vice president of product and solution marketing at Impinj, said that the proven value of RAIN-enabled item-level visibility was fully realized when retailers extended RAIN RFID to all of their products.
He noted that this empowered teams to address restocking needs, reduce out-of-stocks, and ensure customers could easily find what they needed.
Branda added that retailers benefited from improvements in inventory counting efficiency, with individual item counting tasks that once required substantial manual effort now completed much faster.
He concluded that high-value autonomous reading solutions worked best when every item moving through a retail store was tagged, helping retailers achieve a more complete, real-time understanding of their inventory while reducing labor requirements.

The VersaNano tag is designed for the smallest beauty packaging applications, including lipstick tubes, compact cases and jewelry boxes.
The technology supports automated checkout, loss prevention and dock door shipment verification as retailers achieve more complete item-level intelligence.
