As consumer demand for sustainable beauty continues to rise, such partnerships represent a meaningful step forward in reducing the environmental footprint of cosmetic packaging without compromising on quality or aesthetic appeal.

UK – Yom Beauty, a UK-based cosmetics brand, has launched LipSafe, a lip mask, a product developed with food-grade ingredients that prioritizes both consumer safety and environmental responsibility.
Central to this launch is the brand’s signature packaging concept, “The Pebble,” which integrates sustainable materials to align with the product’s safety-first ethos.
To achieve this, Yom Beauty has partnered with Sulapac, a Finnish material innovation company, to provide the bio-based components for The Pebble’s packaging.
Specifically, the spatula and the pearlescent lid of the lip mask are manufactured using Sulapac Solid, a fully bio-based material that serves as a sustainable, high-performance alternative to conventional plastics.
The choice of Sulapac Solid was driven by both its environmental and aesthetic qualities, as Laura DiGirolamo, Co-Founder of Yom Beauty, noted that Sulapac Solid won them over twice: first for its sustainability, then for the soft feel and pearly shimmer it gives to the lid of their Pebble.
The packaging also combines these bio-based components with food-grade glass to create a premium and responsible solution that appeals to eco-conscious consumers. Sulapac Solid is a composite material designed specifically for luxury cosmetic packaging, such as fragrance caps and jars, and boasts several key sustainability credentials.
It is 100% bio-based with a low carbon footprint of 0.6 kg CO2 eq/kg, PFAS-free, and designed to leave no permanent microplastics behind, addressing a critical environmental concern in the beauty industry.
Additionally, the material provides a ceramic-like feel, enhancing the packaging’s premium sensory experience.
The components for Yom Beauty are manufactured in France by FaiveleyTech, a long-standing Sulapac manufacturing partner specializing in high-value-added plastic injection molding for the health care and beauty sectors.
This collaboration highlights a broader industry shift towards more responsible packaging solutions, as brands increasingly seek alternatives to fossil-based plastics that can meet the demanding requirements of premium cosmetic packaging.
Sulapac, which counts CHANEL, Lumene, and Shiseido among its clients, is at the forefront of providing these sustainable material solutions, and the Yom Beauty launch demonstrates how bio-based materials can be successfully integrated into product design to support both environmental goals and a luxury brand image.
