Lumson acquires Lombardi units to strengthen global packaging footprint

With the US acquisition and Lumson’s Asian position, the group’s international beauty/personal care packaging scale grows, deepening North American customer ties while Lombardi Design & MFG bolsters wider APAC presence.

USA – Lumson has purchased Lombardi Design and Manufacturing in the United States along with full ownership of Lombardi Design & MFG in Asia, extending its primary packaging reach across three continents.

The transactions form part of Lumson’s wider international expansion plan and are intended to add industrial and technological capacity while extending reach in primary packaging for the beauty and personal care sector.

Financial terms remain undisclosed. With both deals complete, Lumson holds a direct presence across Europe, North America and Asia, supporting work with international clients and opening access to new regions.

US Acquisition Brings Group Closer to North American Customers

The addition of the US business, together with Lumson’s position in Asia, increases the scale of its international operations in beauty and personal care packaging.

The US acquisition is expected to bring the group closer to customers in North America, while the direct position through Lombardi Design & MFG in Asia is expected to reinforce presence across the wider Asia-Pacific area.

Lombardi Design and Manufacturing will retain its current brand, with management and operations unchanged.

Carl Lombardi will stay on as chief executive.

Lender Consortium Backs Transaction

Funding for the acquisition came from a pool of lenders including Intesa Sanpaolo, BNL BNP Paribas, Crédit Agricole Italia and Banco BPM. SIMEST, part of the Cassa Depositi e Prestiti Group, also backed the transaction.

The involvement of Italian financial institutions reflects the strategic importance of the deal to the country’s packaging sector and its export-oriented manufacturing base.

Leadership Frames Deal as Strategic Milestone

Matteo Moretti, president of Lumson Group, said the transactions represented a key strategic milestone in the group’s international development.

He noted that entry into the North American market through Lombardi Design and Manufacturing and the strategic presence in Asia through Lombardi Design & MFG Limited significantly strengthened Lumson’s international footprint, giving the group a presence across three continents.

He added that the industrial and geographic complementarity of the businesses would enable the group to be closer to global customers and accelerate growth across international markets.

Consolidation Reflects Beauty Packaging Demand

The acquisition mirrors broader consolidation in cosmetic packaging, where brands seek suppliers capable of serving multiple regions with consistent quality and innovation.

Primary packaging for beauty and personal care requires specialised capabilities in dispensing systems, decoration and material compatibility, making established regional producers attractive acquisition targets.

Lumson’s expanded footprint positions it to serve multinational clients seeking simplified supply chains and reduced lead times across major consumer markets.
