Amplifica strengthens leadership with new appointments

The new appointments bring distinct yet mutually reinforcing expertise at a pivotal stage for the company.

USA – Amplifica Holdings Group has appointed Hans Hofland, Ph.D., as Chief Development Officer and added William Humphries to its board of directors.

This move is intended to strengthen leadership depth in dermatology R&D, clinical translation, commercialization, and corporate strategy as the company progresses a pipeline aimed at reactivating dormant hair follicles and stimulating new hair growth.

Frank Fazio, Amplifica’s President and CEO, said, “Hans has a strong record of advancing dermatology research programs into the clinic across multiple therapeutic modalities, while Bill has led and advised companies across the dermatology and broader healthcare sectors.”

“Their perspectives will be invaluable as we execute our development strategy and build a leading company in hair-growth innovation.”

Dr Hofland is a biopharmaceutical executive with more than 30 years’ experience in drug discovery, translational research and clinical development, having advanced dermatology therapeutics from early discovery through first‑in‑human studies across small molecules, nucleic acid‑based therapies and biologics.

His career includes roles at Connetics, Stiefel Laboratories, GlaxoSmithKline and Dermira, as well as co‑founding Evommune and leading discovery and preclinical development at Turn Biotechnologies and Soleno Therapeutics, and he has contributed to 13 investigational new drug applications and helped move 10 product candidates into clinical development and commercialisation.

He holds a Ph.D. in Pharmaceutical Sciences from Leiden University and completed postdoctoral training at the University of Pittsburgh.

Mr Humphries is an experienced healthcare executive and board director with deep expertise in dermatology, pharmaceuticals and contract development and manufacturing.

He currently serves as CEO and a director of MedPharm and has been on the board of Aclaris Therapeutics since 2016, having previously led Alcami, Isosceles Pharmaceuticals, Ortho Dermatologics and Merz’s North American business, and held senior roles at Stiefel Laboratories and Allergan.

He also serves as a director of Cutera and has held board positions at several public and private healthcare companies, and he earned a B.A. from Bucknell University and an M.B.A. from Pepperdine University.

Amplifica is developing novel treatments for androgenetic alopecia, a form of hair loss estimated to affect more than 50 million men and more than 30 million women in the United States alone.

The company is pursuing a nature‑inspired scientific approach using molecular mechanisms designed to regrow natural hair, having identified and isolated unique signaling molecules that stimulate hair follicles to regrow hair, and is advancing product development programs and clinical trials to evaluate the safety and efficacy of its core technology, subject to applicable regulatory approvals.

Recently, Amplifica secured an oversubscribed USD 26 million Series B Preferred Stock financing round, marking a significant milestone in its mission to transform hair loss treatment through injectable therapeutics.
