Launched on March 4, 2026, it aligns with rising sustainability demands in K-Beauty.

SOUTH KOREA – Rom&nd, a leading K-Beauty colour cosmetics brand under Ifamily SC, has launched the “Green Chemi Project” to promote recycling of empty makeup containers.
This initiative addresses the challenge of small-sized cosmetics packaging with residual product, which often ends up as general waste instead of being recycled.
The program partners with TerraCycle for professional recycling, accepting empties, discoloured, expired, or unusable products from Rom&nd and its sister brand Nuse.
Ifamily SC Chairman Kim Tae-wook emphasized the project’s collaborative spirit, stating, “This project brings together the hearts of our employees and consumers who want to make a positive impact on society.”
“We ask for consumers’ interest and participation so that products that would otherwise be discarded can be recycled back into resources.”
Participants receive incentives like complimentary full-size cosmetics for returning even one item, with recycled materials repurposed into new products selected via consumer voting.
Offline returns are available at Rom&nd’s Pink Office store in Seongsu-dong, Seoul. Online options are detailed on the official Rom&nd website, making it accessible to a broad audience, including global fans.
Kim Tae-wook, chairman of iFamily SC, said, “It is a project that gathers the hearts of executives and employees and consumers who want to spread a good influence in society, and small participation will be a force to change the environment, and this power will lead back to the world.”
In a similar move, Colgate and Watsons Hong Kong recently expanded their joint toothpaste tube recycling initiative, the “Small Acts, Big Smiles Recyclable Take Back Program,” into its second phase.
The initiative, which launched in 2023, aims to reduce plastic waste by collecting and recycling toothpaste tubes of any brand across the Hong Kong SAR.
Under the expanded program, consumers can return empty toothpaste tubes to around 180 Watsons stores. Of these, 120 stores now feature dedicated collection bins, enabling convenient self-service drop-off.
The enhanced scheme will run until December 31, 2026, extending one of Hong Kong’s largest consumer participation recycling programs in personal care.
