The company joins industry peers in driving sustainability through emissions reduction and supplier collaboration.
USA – Univar Solutions, a global chemical and ingredients distributor, has received a Gold rating from EcoVadis, placing it among the top 2% of companies assessed in the chemical distribution sector.
This recognition aligns with its broader environmental, social, and governance (ESG) strategy, which focuses on reducing climate and social impacts through its business operations.
In late 2023, the company introduced a new emissions reduction plan that included setting its first Scope 3 emissions intensity target.
It also launched EcoScope, a supplier engagement program designed to help reduce upstream and downstream emissions across its supply chain.
To support this initiative, Univar Solutions became a member of the Together for Sustainability (TFS) group in April, joining over 50 chemical companies working to improve supply chain sustainability.
This partnership is expected to facilitate data sharing, enhance transparency, and contribute to meeting the company’s long-term climate goals.
According to Alexa Colin, Univar Solutions’ general counsel and ESG lead, the company had already cut its global Scope 1 and Scope 2 emissions by 19.9% from its baseline by the end of 2023.
Its new target aims for a 15% reduction in Scope 3 emissions intensity by 2030, forming part of a broader strategy to reach net-zero emissions by 2050.
Kelly Gilroy, vice president of Commercial Sustainability at Univar Solutions, noted that participation in the TfS initiative will play an important role in shaping the company’s commercial sustainability efforts.
Alongside its sustainability drive, Univar Solutions recently partnered with Phenbiox , an Italian manufacturer of natural and active cosmetics ingredients, to distribute their cosmetics ingredients in Brazil, through its Ingredients and Specialities (I+S) division.
According to the company, the partnership significantly strengthens Univar Solutions’ ingredient portfolio in one of the world’s largest cosmetics markets, offering customers access to Phenbiox’s broad range of natural and sustainably sourced skin and hair care ingredients.
Phenbiox develops organic, Italy-made cosmetic ingredients inspired by the country’s rich biodiversity, using patented extraction methods that ensure full bioactivity from plants and fruits.
This move strengthens its presence in the speciality chemicals sector while advancing supply chain collaboration.
