Fragrance brand PHLUR acquired by TSG Consumer

This acquisition reflects TSG’s strategy to back innovative brands that champion modern storytelling and connect deeply with consumers.

USA – TSG Consumer, a private equity company based in the United States, has signed a definitive agreement to acquire Phlur, a modern fine fragrance brand.

Following the acquisition, Chriselle Lim will continue as Phlur’s Creative Director and retain a meaningful stake in the company, alongside The Centre.

Prelude Growth Partners, an earlier investor, will exit as part of the transaction.

Phlur has built a loyal community through its emphasis on transparency, creativity, and emotional connection, qualities that align well with TSG Consumer’s values.

The brand has scaled rapidly via its e-commerce site and retail partners, including Sephora, Amazon, and Space NK.

Hadley Mullin, Senior Managing Director at TSG Consumer, stated, “PHLUR’s commitment to authenticity, emotional storytelling, and modern scent creation makes it a standout in today’s fast-growing fragrance market. We’re excited to support PHLUR’s continued growth by expanding its presence across geographies and product categories while preserving the creative vision and emotional resonance that define the brand.”

Phlur, founded in Austin, Texas, in 2015 and relaunched in 2021 by Creative Director Chriselle Lim alongside beauty accelerator The Centre, is recognized for its sophisticated, sensorially rich fragrances, such as Vanilla Skin, Heavy Cream, and Missing Person.

Phlur offers a curated line of Eau de Parfums, body mists, and hand creams, each crafted to evoke emotional experiences and sensory memories.

Signature scents like Missing Person, Father Figure, and Not Your Baby reflect personal narratives and resonate strongly with Gen Z and millennial audiences.

TSG Consumer, founded in 1986 with approximately USD 13 billion in assets under management, invests in various consumer brands across the beauty and lifestyle sectors.

This acquisition reflects TSG’s strategy to back innovative brands that champion modern storytelling and connect deeply with consumers.

Colin Welch, Managing Director and Head of New York at TSG Consumer, said, “PHLUR’s rapid growth and devoted customer base reflect its remarkable ability to meet that demand.”

“Together, we will work to drive continued loyalty with existing consumers and introduce new fragrance lovers to the brand.”
