Jojoba Desert secures EcoVadis Platinum Medal for outstanding sustainability performance

This underscores the company’s leadership in sustainable cosmetic ingredient production.

ISRAEL – Jojoba Desert, the world’s leading jojoba oil producer based in Israel, has earned the prestigious Platinum Medal from EcoVadis, a globally recognized sustainability ratings platform.

This accolade ranks Jojoba Desert among the top 1% of companies worldwide evaluated for sustainability, underscoring its leadership in sustainable cosmetic ingredient production.

The Platinum Medal reflects the company’s strong performance in environmental responsibility, labor and human rights, and ethics, highlighting its commitments to renewable energy use, biodiversity preservation, waste reduction, and ethical supply chain management.

Merav Hadary, JD’s QA and Sustainable Development Manager, remarked that receiving this award, stating, “Receiving the Platinum Medal is a strong recognition of JD’s sustainability journey.¨

¨It demonstrates to our partners and customers that we remain committed to responsible practices while driving innovation in cosmetic ingredients.”

EcoVadis assesses over 130,000 companies across various industries and countries, making this distinction highly significant for Jojoba Desert’s global reputation in sustainability leadership.

This award comes after Jojoba Desert (JD) recently received the Fair for Life Certification for 2025, highlighting the company’s commitment to ethical business practices, sustainability, and social responsibility within the cosmetics industry.

The Fair for Life Certification, awarded by a Paris-based certification group, sets rigorous social and environmental standards, ensuring fairness across supply chains.

It evaluates companies based on key criteria such as employee safety, community contributions, wildlife protection, and environmental sustainability.

According to the company, their operations are rooted in the Negev Desert, reflecting a deep commitment to preserving the ecosystem while fostering economic growth

Jojoba Desert employs advanced agricultural practices to promote sustainability while cultivating jojoba for natural beauty products.

They use reclaimed water and precision drip irrigation to conserve water and nourish plants efficiently in the arid Negev Desert.

Solar energy powers much of their operations, reducing reliance on fossil fuels and lowering their carbon footprint.

The company follows a zero-waste philosophy by repurposing jojoba pulp as fertilizer and animal feed.

Their plantations preserve wild-type jojoba genetics, supporting biodiversity and protecting native ecosystems.

These integrated methods ensure high-quality, eco-friendly jojoba oil production that aligns with global sustainability standards.
