Dia-Stron enhances hair care research with new visual measurement services

This enhancement to Dia-Stron’s portfolio strengthens its leadership in hair fiber testing and supports innovation in the hair care industry.

UK – Dia-Stron, the British scientific equipment supplier, has expanded its global contract testing services by adding advanced hair visual measurement capabilities.

These new capabilities utilize cutting-edge instruments from its US subsidiary, Bossa Nova Vision, enhancing Dia-Stron’s existing portfolio of single-hair fiber and hair-tress testing techniques used to evaluate traits such as hair strength, repair, protection, smoothness, and combability.

The expanded service supports a wide range of hair types and treatment protocols, making it valuable to manufacturers of raw materials, finished hair products, and hair appliances during product development and final testing.

Dr Rebecca Lunn, Head of Applications, stated, “Claims backed by robust scientific data are key to building consumer trust in products and provide a competitive edge in the market.”

“The new Bossa Nova Vision imaging techniques are a great addition to our testing portfolio, enabling Dia-Stron to continue to support innovations and product development in the hair care sector.”

Dia-Stron’s experienced application scientists collaborate closely with clients to recommend the most suitable and effective testing methods for their claims.

The tests deliver independent, scientifically robust data with thorough statistical analysis conducted at Dia-Stron’s state-of-the-art UK laboratory.

The incorporation of Bossa Nova Vision’s imaging technology significantly strengthens Dia-Stron’s ability to support product innovation and development in the hair care industry.

This move follows Dia-Stron’s official acquisition of 100% of the issued share capital of Bossa Nova Vision LLC on May 1, 2023.

The Los Angeles-based company, known for its innovative imaging measurement technology for the cosmetics industry, was previously engaged with Dia-Stron through a commercial cooperation agreement and a call option executed in March 2022.

The acquisition, valued at USD 1.6 million in cash, aims to strengthen Dia-Stron’s existing hair and fiber measurement solutions by integrating Bossa Nova Vision’s cutting-edge imaging expertise.

Both companies plan to leverage their combined metrology and engineering skills to deliver enhanced measurement instruments and contract testing services, supporting global customers in hair and skin care product development and research.

Further investments in new instruments and laboratory capabilities are expected in the near future as part of the integration and growth strategy.
