Smol introduces sustainable aluminum packaging for its home care range

The use of recycled aluminum represents a significant milestone in energy savings.

USA – Smol has taken a significant step in sustainability by introducing recycled aluminum bottles across its home care product line.

This expansion includes popular items such as washing-up liquid, stain gel, fabric conditioner, multipurpose cleaner, and bathroom spray, all now housed in 500 mL bottles made from recycled aluminum.

The company has also ensured that the bottle pumps and triggers complement this eco-friendly effort by using recycled plastic materials.

Smol highlights that producing recycled aluminum consumes up to 95% less energy compared to virgin aluminum.

In addition, producing recycled aluminum requires 90% less energy than producing recycled glass, positioning aluminum as a highly efficient material for packaging sustainability.

Previously, Smol’s home care range had incorporated recycled plastic bottles, but the addition of aluminum bottles offers consumers a new choice, enhancing the brand’s commitment to environmental responsibility.

The company stated, “These bottles are the final boss of packaging. Our aluminium has already done its job in many previous lives, and now, at the top of its career, it’s ready to stay in the spotlight as your bottle-for-life.”

Alongside this packaging innovation, Smol has expanded its product aesthetics by launching its foaming handwash in four fresh colors: honey, pistachio, petal, and slate, adding a stylistic upgrade to its sustainable range.

The move towards aluminum packaging aligns with a broader industry trend emphasizing circularity, especially as consumers increasingly demand eco-conscious choices.

Notably, aluminum-based packaging solutions are gaining traction in the personal care sector due to their recyclability and energy-efficient production methods.

In a similar move, Whole Foods Market has partnered with Clean Cult to introduce refillable, eco-friendly cleaning products to its shelves.

This collaboration brings Clean Cult’s innovative packaging refillable aluminium bottles and recyclable, paper-based carton refills, into select Whole Foods locations, making sustainable choices more accessible to environmentally conscious shoppers.

Earlier this year, Grove Collaborations also joined forces with The 5 Gyres Institute, a leading ocean pollution research non-profit, to launch a limited-edition home care collection aimed at eliminating single-use plastics.

The collaboration replaces conventional plastic packaging with recyclable aluminum, glass, and paper-based materials, reinforcing both organizations’ commitment to reducing environmental waste.
