BASF to expand global footprint with new hub in Hyderabad

This initiative enhances the company’s network of expertise centres, promising faster and more efficient operations worldwide.

INDIA – BASF is set to launch a new global Digital Hub in Hyderabad, India, to accelerate service delivery through advanced digital capabilities.

BASF intends to inaugurate its Hyderabad Digital Hub during the first quarter of 2026, expanding its current setup in Europe at Ludwigshafen and Madrid, as well as Asia Pacific in Kuala Lumpur.

These hubs function as specialized centers providing scalable, standardized digital services to BASF’s operations globally.

By centralizing expertise in this cost-effective Indian location, the company aims to streamline processes and deliver services more swiftly and efficiently.

Dr. Dirk Elvermann, BASF’s Chief Financial Officer and Chief Digital Officer, stated, “Hyderabad offers all the attributes of a state-of-the-art Digital Hub with global reach.” “Seamless cooperation between the new Digital Hub in India and our existing global Digital Hubs, and excellent service delivery to our businesses, are the top priorities.”

To cut costs and simplify operations, BASF’s Global Digital Services division is refining its digital offerings toward high-value areas for core businesses, involving organizational shifts.

The division targets a major reduction in its worldwide staff by 2030, affecting roles in Ludwigshafen, and plans to consolidate specialist locations.

These steps will proceed responsibly, respecting worker rights and consultation processes.

Setup for the Hyderabad hub is progressing, with recruitment and activities starting promptly under the new entity BASF Digital Solutions Private Limited.

Alexander Gerding, Head of BASF Group Companies in India, noted how this fits into the firm’s longstanding Indian footprint, including manufacturing and R&D, to drive quicker, more focused value generation.

BASF employs 2,411 people in India as of late 2024, with eight production facilities, 42 offices, the Mumbai Innovation Campus, and €2.4 billion (USD 2.84 billion) in 2024 sales.

BASF drives chemistry for sustainable progress, aiming to lead in supporting clients’ green shifts while balancing profitability, eco-protection, and social duties.

Its 112,000 employees serve diverse sectors globally, with key segments in Chemicals, Materials, Industrial Solutions, Nutrition & Care, Surface Technologies, and Agricultural Solutions.

In a similar move, L’Oréal recently announced plans to invest over USD 383 million in a new beauty tech hub in Hyderabad, India, marking a major push into AI-driven innovation.
