This move positions the ingredient as a next‑generation, fermentation‑derived solution for sustainable skincare.

GERMANY – Brenntag and Insempra, a Germany-based biotechnology company, have inked an exclusive global deal to launch a bio‑based Omega‑7 biolipid for beauty and personal care markets.
Brenntag Beauty & Personal Care holds an exclusive global distribution agreement for Insempra’s Omega‑7 biolipid, which will be marketed under the own‑brand name CosVivet™ ActiLipid O7.
The agreement is structured as the first of several planned products under a broader strategic collaboration between the two companies, not a one‑off transaction.
Michael Wilkop, Brenntag Specialities Regional President Beauty & Care EMEA, stated, “We are excited to embark on this new offer, which underscores our commitment to helping our customers access cutting-edge sustainable ingredients that meet evolving consumer demands.”
“Insempra’s expertise in industrial biotechnology combined with Brenntag’s global distribution network, technical capabilities, and Innovation and Application Centres creates a powerful platform for delivering sustainable beauty solutions.”
CosVivet™ ActiLipid O7 is an oil‑soluble, biotechnology‑derived Omega‑7 biolipid produced via fermentation, designed to address sensitive‑skin care with moisturisation, skin‑barrier support, and compatibility with lipophilic raw materials.
The ingredient is positioned as multifunctional, combining active performance with sustainability and a premium sensory experience, aligning with demand for “green” yet high‑elevation beauty actives.
The ingredient is being officially launched at in‑cosmetics Global 2026 in Paris, underscoring its target at formulators and premium brands across Europe, the Middle East, and beyond.
Brenntag is rolling it out via its own‑brand portfolio, backed by its global distribution network, technical service, and Innovation and Application Centres, while Insempra leverages the partnership to scale its biotech‑derived actives into mass beauty channels.
Insempra focuses on creating bio-based alternatives to petrochemical ingredients, offering products in beauty & personal care (like its Omega-7 biolipid), food & nutrition, and fibers/performance materials.
Meanwhile, Brenntag recently entered a new distribution agreement with Givaudan to supply active cosmetic ingredients in Thailand’s rapidly growing beauty and personal care market.
This partnership allows Brenntag to broaden its portfolio with Givaudan’s premium and scientifically advanced active ingredients, catering to evolving consumer trends toward wellness, sustainability, and high performance.
