The airless design preserves the efficacy of Ninella’s plant-based ingredients while offering a high restitution rate to reduce waste.

GERMANY – Quadpack, a leading packaging specialist, has collaborated with the German start-up When Nino Meets Lella (Ninella) to provide innovative airless packaging for its debut plant oil-infused skincare line.
Ninella selected Quadpack’s Regula Airless 30 mL containers to package its day cream, night cream, and hyaluronic fluid, ensuring sensitive natural formulas are protected from contamination and oxidation.
The containers, made from recyclable polyethylene terephthalate (PET) or polypropylene (PP) with a metal-free pump, are fully produced at Quadpack’s facility in Kierspe, Germany, supporting local supply chains and sustainability goals.
Featuring elegant gold lettering on a black background with soft-touch lacquering, the packaging enhances user experience and has received strong praise from customers and retailers since its May 2025 launch.
Nino Waldschmidt, Ninella’s co-founder, praised Quadpack, stating, “As a start-up, we’ve often found ourselves being seen and treated as ‘just another customer’. That wasn’t the case with Quadpack.”
“They gave us the chance to produce a relatively small run and supported us right from the start.”
The family business, founded by Waldschmidt and his parents Pamela and Thomas, honours his grandmother Liselotte Sartori (Lella), who pioneered natural skincare in Switzerland’s first beauty farm in the 1960s.
Ninella opted against glass jars due to their high carbon footprint from energy-intensive production, transport, and recycling, favoring plastic’s efficiency in this context.
This aligns with industry trends where both materials vie for sustainable packaging leadership, as highlighted in recent McKinsey surveys ranking glass highly for recyclability but PET favorably in certain markets.
In a similar move, last year, Quadpack supplied Marini SkinSolutions with Regula Airless Refill packaging, as well as recyclable bottles and tubes, for its rebranded skincare range.
The refillable design features a snap-on ring that allows for easy removal of the inner bottle after use, promoting circularity and ease of recycling.
In recent years, a lot of companies have embraced polyethylene terephthalate (PET) packaging in personal care products, recognizing its balance of durability, clarity, and recyclability.
PET bottles and jars are now standard for shampoos, conditioners, lotions, and deodorants, while innovations like rPET (recycled PET) and bio‑PET are helping brands reduce reliance on virgin plastics. This shift reflects both consumer demand for sustainable packaging and industry efforts to align with circular economy goals.
