The appointment marks a historic appointment as the first Canadian to lead the organization in Canada.

CANADA – L’Oréal Canada has officially named Stéphane Bérubé as its new President and Chief Executive Officer, effective June 1, 2026.
This milestone marks a significant moment for L’Oréal’s Canadian operations, with Bérubé succeeding An Verhulst-Santos, who completed an exceptional five-year tenure in Montreal and is now advancing to the role of non-executive Chairwoman of L’Oréal Brazil, a pioneering first for the L’Oréal Group.
To ensure smooth leadership continuity, Verhulst-Santos and Bérubé conducted a comprehensive handover period from April through June 2026.
Bérubé brings more than 20 years of experience within the L’Oréal Group, having built a distinguished career spanning both Canadian and international markets since joining in 2002 as Brand Director at Maybelline New York Canada.
His career trajectory includes serving as General Manager for L’Oréal Paris Canada; Chief Marketing Officer for L’Oréal Canada in 2014, where he led the company’s digital transformation; CMO for Western Europe and the UK; and, most recently, President of the Consumer Products Division Canada from 2019 to 2026.
Since taking charge of the Consumer Products Division in 2019, Bérubé has driven nearly 50% sales growth while rapidly advancing the company’s e-commerce capabilities and data-driven innovation initiatives.
The company stated that his deep understanding of the Canadian market, combined with his international expertise, make him the natural choice to lead L’Oréal Canada into its next era of omni-channel excellence.
Bérubé expressed the personal significance of this moment, stating that this is the most important defining moment in his career and that he is deeply honoured to share his appointment.
He emphasized how profoundly personal this moment is, noting that he started his journey with L’Oréal Canada over 24 years ago and to now have the privilege of leading this incredible organization as the first Canadian to do so is something he could not be prouder of.
He acknowledged his predecessor’s impact, stating that An Verhulst-Santos’s leadership, vision, and humanity have set a standard he deeply respects, and that L’Oréal Brazil is gaining someone truly special.
Stéphane Binette succeeds Bérubé as head of the Consumer Products Division in Canada, marking her return to Canada following a successful career in the United States.
L’Oréal Canada, established in 1958, operates as a subsidiary of the world’s leading beauty company with headquarters, a manufacturing plant, and distribution center in Montreal, a sales office in Toronto, subsidiaries including ModiFace and SalonCentric, and a workforce of more than 2,000 employees representing over 80 different nationalities.
