The development of Malvallin further underscores Croda’s strategy of leveraging advanced skin science and natural-origin materials to deliver differentiated technologies aligned with evolving consumer trends in premium beauty and personal care markets.

FRANCE – Croda has introduced Malvallin™, a patent-pending botanical active created to address rising consumer demand for skincare that helps keep skin healthy and resilient over the long term.
The launch reinforces Croda’s foothold in the fast-growing premium skincare segment and aligns with the shift toward preventative skincare, where people aim to preserve skin quality and appearance instead of only correcting visible signs of ageing.
Malvallin is a next-generation botanical active that represents years of botanical research and innovation, unifying Croda’s strengths in plant-derived technologies, skin science, sourcing, and formulation.
Made at Croda’s site in France, it combines advanced skin biology with naturally derived botanical science to support firmness, hydration, elasticity, and visible facial volume.
The ingredient is derived from Chinese mallow fruit and is 100% natural according to ISO16128, working across multiple skin layers to support the skin’s natural renewal processes.
Its efficacy is backed by extensive laboratory and clinical testing, providing customers with robust scientific evidence to support the product’s claims.
Sandra Breene, President of Consumer Care, noted that consumers are increasingly seeking products that maintain healthy skin over time, opening opportunities for brands to move beyond traditional anti-ageing approaches.
She said Malvallin shows how technology, naturally derived ingredients, and clinically proven efficacy can help brands meet evolving consumer expectations while supporting premium product positioning.
Clinical trials showed visible improvements in hydration, redness, skin texture, and cheek volume after 28 days. Advanced 3D imaging and eye-tracking studies also indicated enhanced perceived facial attractiveness.
Malvallin was designed to help customers meet key market and formulation trends by delivering multifunctional efficacy across the hypodermis, dermis, and epidermis for simplified, high-performance skincare, while combining clinically proven results with naturally derived ingredients to support premium positioning.
It also supports prevention-driven claims that align with Gen Y and Gen Z demand for long-term skin health, and offers strong sustainability credentials, including COSMOS approval, vegan compliance, RSPO, and Halal certification, to enable responsible sourcing and formulation strategies.
Frédéric de Baene, R&D Director for Croda Beauty Actives, said, “Malvallin demonstrates the strength of Croda’s approach to innovation, combining expertise in plant-derived technologies, advanced skin biology and scientific substantiation.”
COSMOS approved means certification to the COSMOS standard for organic and natural cosmetics, supporting recognized sustainable and responsible sourcing. RSPO certified indicates compliance with the Roundtable on Sustainable Palm Oil, supporting responsibly sourced palm-derived materials.
Halal certified means the ingredient meets recognized Halal standards for sourcing and manufacturing processes.
