Silab introduces chestnut-derived active to hair formulations

FRANCE – SILAB has launched LIFTILIENCE®, a natural, patented active ingredient that brings “high-definition” curl control to textured hair care by combining a film-forming effect, retractation capacity, and adhesion properties.
Composed of chestnut functionalized helical biopolymers obtained through SILAB’s innovative Functionalized Helical Biopolymer Technology®, this phytopolymer was already recognized in skin care but has now been proven effective in hair formulas specifically designed for textured hair.
Available as a preservative-free powder, LIFTILIENCE® is easy to formulate at recommended doses of 0.08-0.16%, making it practical for haircare manufacturers to incorporate into their products.
Testing using a multiparametric approach demonstrated that LIFTILIENCE® immediately improves the definition of natural curls, with results that persist throughout the day.
A preliminary study on naturally curly locks confirmed this immediate improvement, showing that the effect remains up to 8 hours after application.
The ingredient’s ability to enhance both the definition and rebound of natural curls was validated through an expert hairdresser study combining visual and tactile evaluations, as well as a consumer study with 90 subjects with wavy or curly hair, in which volunteers themselves perceived these beneficial effects.
LIFTILIENCE® stands out significantly by preventing and limiting frizzy hair, reducing the surface of frizzy hair by 30% immediately after a single application on ex vivo locks.
This frizz-control effect was confirmed by volunteers, with 68% reporting that frizz appeared to be limited for up to 8 hours after application.
The ingredient also promotes hair gloss that persists throughout the day, as confirmed by 91% of volunteers.
At the end of the consumer study, LIFTILIENCE® was highly appreciated, receiving a mean score of 8/10, confirming its value as a novel and effective natural ingredient in the haircare segment.
