Stratum Nutrition’s Ovolux gains Health Canada clearance for nutricosmetic claims

CANADA – Stratum Nutrition’s eggshell membrane ingredient, Ovolux, has secured Health Canada authorization for multiple skin health claims, strengthening its position in the beauty-from-within market. 

The approved claims allow manufacturers to say the ingredient helps improve, increase, and support skin hydration, elasticity, firmness, and overall skin health. 

According to Stratum Nutrition, the approval also reflects the growing scientific support behind eggshell membrane as a beauty-from-within ingredient. 

Arun Nair, the company’s chief commercial officer, described the authorization as an important milestone and said it validates the expanding body of research on the ingredient. 

He added that Ovolux comes at a time when consumer demand for clinically supported skin health solutions continues to rise, offering brands a sustainable and innovative option to address skin appearance and health.

The ingredient is presented as an ultra-low-dose, naturally derived eggshell membrane ingredient that contains collagen types I, V, and X. Stratum Nutrition also says it includes other bioactive compounds associated with skin health, including hyaluronic acid and elastin. 

The company notes that these naturally occurring components are important because many of them decline in the skin as it ages.

A clinical trial conducted last year found that Ovolux delivered significant broad-based improvements in key biomechanical skin properties compared with placebo, including elasticity, firmness, and viscoelasticity. 

It also explains that Ovolux uses an unhydrolyzed form of eggshell membrane, which is intended to let the body gradually break it down and absorb its building blocks over time. 

According to the company, this approach supports the delivery of nutrients that naturally diminish with age, reinforcing its commitment to science-backed ingredients that meet the needs of both consumers and product developers worldwide.
