The unified platform targets beauty groups, pharmacy chains, and retailers with broad product portfolios.

ESTONIA – Haut.AI has launched Hair Analysis, an AI-powered tool that lets beauty brands and retailers assess consumers’ hair from a single selfie and provide personalised product recommendations.
The technology is designed to address the limitations of conventional haircare quizzes, which rely primarily on consumers selecting broad categories such as dry, fine or damaged.
According to Haut.AI, these self-assessments can be subjective because consumers may misjudge their hair texture, density or condition.
Using computer vision, the tool analyses six visible hair characteristics: curliness, volume, density, frizz, colour and colour uniformity. The colour-uniformity assessment can identify uneven colour and greying.
The image-based evaluation is combined with a short questionnaire covering hair length, styling habits, chemical treatments and consumer concerns that cannot be determined from a photograph alone.
The questionnaire covers practices such as heat styling, bleaching, colouring, and perming, as well as concerns including split ends, dryness, frizz, lack of volume, chemical damage, and colour-treated hair.
The combined assessment covers 19 hair concerns, providing a broader hair profile than a selfie or questionnaire could generate independently.
The selfie process uses Haut.AI’s LIQA™, or Live Image Quality Assurance™, technology.
The system helps guide image capture and checks the quality of the photograph before analysis. Consumers can use either a front-facing or rear camera or upload an existing image.
The browser-based experience does not require an application download, specialist in-store equipment or a salon appointment, and the full process, from starting the assessment to receiving recommendations, takes less than one minute.
The platform supports 12 product categories, including shampoos, conditioners, treatments, masks, oils and styling products.
Brands upload and tag their products according to the hair concerns they are intended to address, after which the system uses the consumer’s profile to identify relevant products and prioritise the most important concern.
The platform also includes business-to-business tools for product management, consumer analysis and operational integration. Brands can upload and tag products through Haut.AI’s software-as-a-service platform, allowing them to manage the relationship between products and hair concerns and update the catalogue when products or claims change.
Haut.AI provides aggregated hair metrics that can show the characteristics and concerns represented within a brand’s consumer base. The company says these insights may help businesses with assortment planning, content development and formulation priorities, while also supporting more relevant individual recommendations.
The platform supports CSV exports and webhooks and can generate PDF reports for in-store and salon consultants.
The technology may also support hair research by enabling the collection of data from larger consumer populations. Conventional methods such as phototrichogram, TrichoScan and trichoscopy can provide detailed information but generally require specialist equipment, clinic-based photography and expert review.
Hair Analysis was initially co-developed with Grupo Boticário following the Brazilian beauty company’s strategic investment in Haut.AI.
Hair Analysis uses the same platform and recommendation engine as Haut.AI’s AI Skin Analysis. For companies already using the skin technology, the hair tool can extend an existing integration rather than requiring a separate supplier, data flow or consumer-record system.
Together with Face Analysis 3.0 and Body Analysis, the new solution forms part of Haut.AI’s wider technology offering for face, body and hair personalisation.
