Givaudan introduces PrimalHyal™ 300 for advanced skin repair formulations

SWITZERLAND – Givaudan Active Beauty has introduced PrimalHyal™ 300, a medium-molecular-weight hyaluronic acid derived from biotechnology, positioned as the brand’s “healer” ingredient for fast skin recovery and repair.
The company frames the ingredient as a skin-healing accelerator that helps strengthen the skin’s natural defence system and supports recovery when the barrier is compromised, especially in post-procedure care.
Tingredient is built on years of work in hyaluronic acid science and was developed in the Champagne region of France through a biorefinery model rooted in circular-economy principles.
Amandine Scandolera, Head of Biological Evaluation at Givaudan Active Beauty, said, “Our skin is our first line of defence – a complex and dynamic structure that must repair itself effectively when compromised.
PrimalHyal™ 300 is the result of years of research into how hyaluronic acid can support the skin’s natural repair and cell reconnection processes. By specifically reactivating bleomycin hydrolase production, it helps the skin heal better, faster and more effectively.”
On the efficacy side, Givaudan says PrimalHyal™ 300 activates skin renewal by increasing bleomycin hydrolase levels by 79%, which helps keep skin hydrated while supporting natural recovery.
In ex vivo testing, the ingredient reportedly restored barrier strength within a few days after harsh chemical peeling and boosted ceramide content by up to 15 times compared with the control, with ceramides described as the lipid “cement” that holds skin cells together.
Clinical studies on women who underwent deep fractional CO2 laser treatments found visible hydration improvement after 3 days, a substantial reduction in redness and irritation after 1 week, and an overall result of smoother, calmer, and more resilient skin.
Givaudan presents that manufacturing approach as part of its wider push toward responsible innovation and performance-led skin care science.
The launch comes after Givaudan Active Beauty recently launched PrimalHyal™ NeuroYouth, a groundbreaking ingredient targeting neuroskin ageing to rejuvenate the skin’s sensory functions and overall youthfulness.
This complex combines low-molecular-weight hyaluronic acid with amino acids to restore nerve fibres and improve neuronal signalling in ageing skin.
