As Signum advances a new generation of these molecules and Epicutis expands into new markets, Dr. Wang will help ensure every product and claim stays grounded in clinical evidence.

USA – Epicutis, the professional skincare brand built on patented biotechnology from Signum Biosciences, has appointed James Y. Wang, MD, MBA, as its chief medical officer.
Dr. Wang, who has chaired the Epicutis Scientific Advisory Board since 2025, will lead the brand’s medical and clinical strategy, guide its clinical research program, and expand scientific education for the physicians and aesthetic professionals who carry Epicutis.
Maxwell Stock, founder and CEO of Epicutis and Signum Biosciences, said that when he started Epicutis, the idea was simple: let the science lead.
Maxwell added, “Dr. Wang has been one of the strongest voices for that principle since he joined our advisory board.”
“Bringing him in as Chief Medical Officer puts a practicing dermatologist at the center of how we develop products, run clinical studies, and support the professionals who recommend Epicutis to their patients.”
Dr. Wang is board‑certified in dermatology and dermatopathology, giving him a view of skin that runs from the exam room to the microscope, and he is the founder of Metropolis Dermatology, which has five locations across California offering medical, surgical and cosmetic dermatology.
He earned his medical degree from Harvard Medical School and an MBA from Harvard Business School, completed his dermatology residency at UCLA, and went on to advanced training in dermatopathology.
As Chief Medical Officer, Dr. Wang will evaluate emerging research, inform the design of new clinical studies, advise on product development, and lead education programs that help providers understand the biology behind Epicutis and how to use it alongside in‑office procedures and prescription treatments.
Epicutis is sold through professional channels including dermatology practices, medical spas, luxury hotel spas and a growing network of wellness and longevity clinics, with its formulas built around proprietary molecules discovered and developed by Signum Biosciences scientists.
More than 15 years of peer‑reviewed research supports these molecules, with studies published in journals including the Journal of Investigative Dermatology and the Journal of Cosmetic Dermatology.
