The entry into Africa comes amid a wider wave of innovation and investment aimed at Black beauty consumers, even as major beauty conglomerates face criticism for stagnating diversity initiatives.

GHANA – Cécred is set to be launched in Ghana in September 2026, marking a strategic milestone in the brand’s global expansion into Africa.
The move underscores Ghana’s growing importance as a gateway for international prestige beauty brands, driven by its stable economic environment, rising middle class, and strong consumer appetite for high-quality, inclusive haircare solutions tailored to diverse textures.
The expansion aligns with broader trends of global beauty companies prioritizing West Africa, particularly Ghana and Nigeria, as initial entry points before scaling across the continent, leveraging the region’s increasing disposable incomes and digital-savvy beauty audiences.
Additionally, Ghana’s improving retail infrastructure and supportive regulatory framework have made it an attractive testing ground for premium product launches, offering brands a conducive environment to gauge consumer response ahead of wider African distribution.
Founded by global music icon Beyoncé Knowles-Carter in 2024, Cécred is a science-backed haircare brand designed for “all types and textures,” including straight, wavy, curly, and coily hair.
The brand first introduced the Foundation Collection, anchored by products such as the Edge Restoring Drops, which targeted thinning edges and hair loss, a concern especially pertinent to many consumers of colour.
Cécred subsequently rolled out its Protection Collection in summer 2025 and its Styling Collection in March 2026, followed by an August 2026 expansion of its Restoring Collection with the launch of the Restoring Lash & Brow Builder and an XL size of its Restoring Hair & Edge Drops.
The Ghanaian launch is expected to feature a curated selection from these collections, spotlighting Cécred’s proprietary Biopeptide-5 technology and patent-pending Bioactive Keratin Ferment, which form the scientific basis for the brand’s claims of visibly improved hair density and overall hair health across all textures.
Although specific retail partners in Ghana have not yet been disclosed, Cécred’s global distribution approach has heavily emphasized direct-to-consumer channels and strategic partnerships with prestige retailers, most notably its landmark April 2025 rollout across more than 1,400 Ulta Beauty stores in the United States, the largest haircare launch in the retailer’s history.
The expansion comes as Ghana’s beauty and personal care market is valued at about GHS 3.56 billion ( USD 270–280 million) in 2025, growing at an annual rate of 11%, according to a report by Euromonitor International.
