Normactive unveils new R&D lab in İzmir
The facility strengthens the company’s presence in İzmir, where its headquarters and broader research activities are already located.
TURKEY – Turkey-based cosmetic ingredient developer Normactive has opened a new research and development laboratory at Ege Teknopark in İzmir, expanding its capacity to develop active ingredients for the cosmetics and personal-care industries.
Located within Ege University’s innovation network, Ege Teknopark connects academic researchers with technology-focused companies, particularly in the life sciences and healthcare sectors.
The site will give Normactive’s research team access to specialised scientific resources and opportunities to collaborate with experts from fields relevant to ingredient development.
The new laboratory is expected to support the company’s existing research programmes and increase the pace of experimental development. It will also help Normactive move promising research concepts closer to practical applications for the personal-care industry.
The investment strengthens the company’s internal R&D infrastructure and advances its goal of converting scientific research into high-performance active ingredients for cosmetic formulators and brands.
“This is an exciting step for us, expanding our research capacity in a setting that brings together life-sciences expertise and technology businesses,” said managing director Sedef Kalayci.
Normactive offers a broad portfolio of specialty cosmetic actives and botanical extracts, ranging from anti-dandruff and anti-wrinkle solutions to volumizing and nourishing hair care actives, alongside advanced delivery systems like liposomes and supercritical CO₂ oils.
Their catalog spans natural actives, pure molecules, functional extracts, and innovative encapsulation technologies designed for skin, hair, and personal care formulations.
Normactive’s most recent launches at in‑cosmetics Global were AST‑4™, CLOUDIN+™, and A4V™.
Accpordig to the company, each product was developed through advanced scientific processes to expand their portfolio: AST‑4™ focuses on skin vitality and anti‑aging pathways, CLOUDIN+™ delivers lightweight hydration with sensorial innovation inspired by cloud‑like textures, and A4V™ introduces a nutricosmetic concept aimed at longevity, cellular adaptability, and cognitive balance, marking Normactive’s entry into beauty‑from‑within solutions.
In a similar move, German deep-tech company BIOWEG is preparing to build what it describes as Europe’s largest bacterial cellulose production facility in Elsdorf, North Rhine-Westphalia.
The plant is expected to deliver its first commercial volumes in 2028.
Once operational, the facility will have the capacity to produce up to 10,000 tonnes of bacterial cellulose annually, strengthening Europe’s domestic supply of a material that is currently sourced almost entirely from outside the region.
