GHANA – Scentopia, Ghana’s largest luxury beauty retailer, has made a significant entry into the travel retail market with the launch of its first boutique at Accra’s Kotoka International Airport.
This strategic move comes in partnership with Inter-African Marketing (IAM), a leading distributor in domestic and travel retail across Africa, underlining a new era for airport retail in the region.
The Accra Airport boutique is designed as a premium, sensory-driven shopping experience tailored for the modern African traveler.
It houses a curated selection of world-class fragrance and skincare brands such as Dior, Lancome, Armani, Yves Saint Laurent, Paco Rabanne, Carolina Herrera, Gucci, CeraVe, and La Roche Posay.
The store features refined displays, ambient lighting, and lightly scented air, creating an immersive environment that reflects the spirit of Africa and elevates luxury travel retail standards locally.
CEO Vipul Gajjar highlighted the transformation of African travel retail, noting the region previously lacked the immersive experiences found in global hubs like Dubai or Paris.
Scentopia aims to change that, making every airport visit an experience to remember and a reflection of the evolved African traveler who is curious, confident, and connected to global and local cultures alike.
The boutique also addresses challenges faced by African airport retail operators, bridging the gap between local businesses lacking luxury expertise and international brands that often underperform in the region.
The launch taps into the significant growth in African air travel, with over 5% year-on-year growth in 2025 and more than 1.2 million international visitors to Ghana in 2024.
The boutique is intended to serve the increasingly diverse traveler base passing through Kotoka International, including tourists, diasporans, and inter-African travelers.
Inter-African Marketing’s Commercial Director Johnny Lakhwani described the opening as a milestone reflecting Africa’s dynamic transformation and signaled ambitions to expand Scentopia’s presence into other key African airports.
