NIGERIA – L’Oréal, in partnership with Inter-African Marketing (IAM), has launched Africa’s first dedicated L’Oréal-only shop-in-shop at Abuja Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport, marking a milestone in African travel retail.
This exclusive 50-square-meter boutique, developed by IAM in close collaboration with Dunes Duty Free, opened on November 6, 2025, transforming the airport shopping experience into an immersive luxury beauty destination tailored for travellers.
The boutique features a curated selection of L’Oréal’s premium brands, including Yves Saint Laurent, Armani, Lancôme, Prada, Valentino, Mugler, Viktor & Rolf, Ralph Lauren, and Maison Margiela.
It also includes a dedicated dermo-cosmetic range with La Roche-Posay, Vichy, and CeraVe, showcasing these dermatological products in Africa’s travel retail for the first time.
Patrick Richmond Utomoibor, L’Oréal Travel Retail EMEAI Area Manager for the Africa Zone, stated, “It embodies our focus on consumer centricity, offering luxury brands, tailor-made offers, and expert service from highly trained beauty advisors.”
“Simply put, this store is shaping the travel retail landscape in Africa.”
This store represents a strategic milestone for L’Oréal in Africa’s second-largest beauty market and is designed to meet the evolving needs of Nigerian and African travellers.
It emphasizes a consumer-centric approach with expert service provided by highly trained beauty advisors, personalized consultations, and tailor-made offers.
The concept aims to elevate the travel retail landscape in Africa by blending luxury, inclusivity, accessibility, and sustainability.
Sustainability is integrated into the boutique’s design, with all furniture and fixtures locally produced, supporting local artisans and reducing the environmental footprint.
This sustainable approach not only enhances the boutique’s modern aesthetic but also aligns with L’Oréal’s global commitments to responsibility and innovation in beauty retail on the African continent.
The boutique offers African travellers access to world-class brands and a premium experience that reflects their expectations and spending power, addressing a previously unmet demand in the region.
This initiative positions Abuja Airport, Nigeria’s second-busiest airport serving around three million passengers annually, as a key hub for luxury and innovation in African travel retail.
In summary, the L’Oréal and IAM partnership at Abuja Airport inaugurates a new era in African travel retail by delivering an immersive, high-end beauty shopping experience that aligns with modern luxury, personalized service, and sustainability, setting an aspirational standard for the continent’s travel retail sector.
