TechnicoFlor acquires Azur Fragrances

Financial terms of the transaction were not disclosed.

FRANCE – French fragrance house TechnicoFlor has announced the acquisition of Azur Fragrances, an independent perfumery company founded in Grasse, Southern France, in 1978 by Andreas Von Loringhoven.

The move marks a strategic milestone in TechnicoFlor’s growth trajectory, reinforcing its position in natural perfumery and accelerating its international expansion, particularly across Europe.

The acquisition strengthens TechnicoFlor’s expertise in fragrance creation, with a special emphasis on natural perfumes, a segment where Azur Fragrances has built significant know-how.

By integrating Azur’s capabilities, TechnicoFlor expands its portfolio into high-growth areas such as hair care formulations and clean-label cosmetic fragrances.

Beyond product expertise, the deal anchors TechnicoFlor more deeply in Grasse, globally recognized as the historic heart of fine perfumery, thereby enhancing the company’s access to raw materials, creative talent, and industry networks vital for innovation in scent design.

A key driver behind the acquisition is Azur Fragrances’ established commercial presence in Germany and other European markets, which TechnicoFlor intends to leverage to accelerate its own penetration across Europe, complementing its existing operations in Asia, the Middle East, and Africa.

Christopher Sabater, CEO of TechnicoFlor, stated, “This acquisition allows us to strengthen our leadership in key segments such as natural perfumery and cosmetics, while also gaining access to complementary expertise.”

“It marks a new stage in our development, reinforcing our presence in Europe and supporting our ambition to accelerate international growth.”

According to TechnicoFlor, the merger was motivated not only by commercial collaboration but also by cultural alignment, as both companies share commitments to quality, creativity, and responsible perfumery, principles that underpin TechnicoFlor’s broader sustainability initiatives, including its recent rollout of the Global ScenTrack carbon footprint calculator for fragrance formulas.

This acquisition builds on TechnicoFlor’s recent global expansion efforts, including a €12–18 million (USD 13.6 – 20.5 million) investment in a fully automated Marseille production facility in 2021 that doubled its output capacity to 2,000 tonnes, and the 2024 launch of factories in China and Indonesia, plus new offices across Southeast Asia.

It also aligns with the company’s African growth strategy, marked by the October 2024 opening and the June 2025 official inauguration of its Nairobi office, with additional hubs planned for the Ivory Coast and Nigeria, and a future creation centre in South Africa.

To complement the merger, TechnicoFlor has appointed Maxime Gransart as Global CEO, marking a strategic leadership transition as the company accelerates its international growth and sustainability agenda.

In his new role, Gransart, who previously served as Deputy General Manager and played a pivotal role in expanding TechnicoFlor’s footprint across Asia, Africa, and Europe, will oversee global operations, drive innovation in natural and eco-friendly fragrances, and advance the company’s digital transformation and philanthropic initiatives, such as the FlorAnthropy program.

The appointment underscores TechnicoFlor’s commitment to scaling its presence in key markets while deepening its focus on responsible perfumery, transparent sourcing, and next-generation creative technologies, including AI-supported fragrance development.
