The introduction represents only the initial phase of KAAT Skincare’s ambitious, long-term strategy.

SOMALIA – Somali beauty startup KAAT Skincare has introduced its first product, Safwa Bright Facial Cream, marking a pivotal moment for local enterprise and beauty innovation in the Horn of Africa.
The newly established African beauty house seeks to fill a persistent market gap by creating specialised formulations designed specifically for Cushitic and melanin-rich skin types.
The product is formulated to perform optimally in hot, humid environments; the brand’s debut offering tackles common regional skin concerns, including excess sebum production, heat-related sensitivity, and congestion, without resorting to harsh chemical treatments.
Abdirahman Hussein Mohamed, CEO of KAAT Skincare, stated, “With Safwa Bright Facial Cream, we are taking a tradition passed down through generations and combining it with modern science to create skincare designed for our unique skin and climate.”
“This is only the beginning. Our vision is to build a proudly African beauty house that can compete on the global stage while remaining rooted in our culture and identity.”
Central to KAAT’s brand story is its deep ties to Somali cultural heritage, with turmeric positioned as the signature ingredient.
For generations, Somali grandmothers have relied on natural turmeric preparations as a cornerstone of daily skincare rituals.
Safwa Bright Facial Cream reinterprets this inherited wisdom through contemporary laboratory formulation, effectively merging time-honoured beauty practices with clinical science.
The cream combines turmeric with complementary active ingredients such as niacinamide and permitted levels of kojic acid to strengthen the skin barrier, even out tone, and boost natural radiance.
In recognition of its early impact, KAAT Skincare was named Best Skincare Brand of the Year 2026 at the seventh edition of the Somali Business Awards (SOBA), providing momentum as the company pursues wider regional growth.

In parallel, a subsidiary brand, WARA Fragrance by Abdirahman Hussein Mohamed, was recognised at the 2026 Somali Business Awards, where it was named Business of the Year 2026 and Best Perfume Brand of the Year 2026.
Following the launch, KAAT Skincare is eyeing expansion into the Kenyan market as part of a broader regional growth strategy.
The company plans to broaden its portfolio beyond core facial products to include a full skincare range, a dedicated cosmetics division, and an upcoming fragrance collection.
By anchoring modern dermatological formulation in authentic cultural traditions, the enterprise aims to emerge as a leading Pan-African cosmetics and fragrance house, demonstrating how local heritage can fuel commercial innovation and premium product development across the Horn of Africa and beyond.
