Holding a standard Axe body spray can, Lynx in the UK, the holder amplifies luxury fragrance bottle visuals into an ornate, oversized, and entirely unnecessary form.

UK – Unilever and LOLA Madrid have revealed The Axe Holder, a deliberately extravagant bottle designed to contain a standard can of Axe body spray while exaggerating the visual language of luxury fragrance packaging.
The Axe Holder is designed to contain a standard can of Axe body spray, known as Lynx in the United Kingdom, while exaggerating the visual language of luxury fragrance bottles in an ornate, oversized and completely unnecessary format.
The campaign pokes fun at consumers for judging a fragrance by its packaging and price before its scent, encouraging them to take a closer look at the product itself, which remains unchanged.
Caroline Gregory, global brand director for Axe and Lynx at Unilever, said the brands had always had a sense of humour but that fragrance was something the company took seriously.
She noted that the joke only worked because the product could back it up, adding that blind tests showed the company’s fragrances could perform as well as, or better than, products retailing for around £350 (USD 470).
She said the holder allowed the brand to make that point in a way that felt true to the brand.
Tomás Ostiglia, chief creative officer at LOLA Madrid, said the holder was a completely unnecessary and very fancy accessory, which was exactly the point.
He explained that the agency was having fun with all the things the fragrance world says are needed to make something feel premium.
He added that many people did not realise the perfumers behind Axe and Lynx also created some of the world’s most expensive fragrances, so the intention was for the outside of the can to catch up with what was already inside.
The Axe Holder and Lynx Holder will launch across the United Kingdom, Australia, Germany, Mexico, Canada, Argentina and other markets this month, available through selected online purchases of Axe or Lynx products.
The campaign reflects broader experimentation in packaging as a marketing channel, where limited-edition formats drive engagement and basket value without reformulating the core product.
Earlier this year, Unilever participated in a brand collaboration between Hellmann’s Brazil and the National Basketball Association, displaying team mascots on squeezy bottles of eight trend-led mayonnaise variants, which reportedly led to a 227 percent increase in Amazon sales during the NBA Finals activations.
