Amplifica raises USD 26M to advance injectable hair loss treatments

The funding positions the company to lead the next wave of clinically validated, mechanism-driven hair regeneration therapies, with potential to redefine standards of care for both men and women experiencing hair loss.

USA – Amplifica, a clinical-stage biopharmaceutical company,  has secured an oversubscribed USD 26 million Series B Preferred Stock financing round, marking a significant milestone in its mission to transform hair loss treatment through injectable therapeutics.

The funding will support the company’s clinical-stage pipeline of novel injectable candidates designed to reactivate dormant hair follicles and stimulate new hair growth, addressing a major unmet need in a market currently dominated by modestly effective daily-use treatments.

The Series B round was led by Tasso Partners, with participation from strategic investor Eli Lilly and Company, principals of Scopia Capital Management, and a consortium of new and existing investors.

The oversubscribed round underscores strong institutional confidence in Amplifica’s scientific platform and the commercial opportunity presented by its differentiated approach to hair regeneration.

Frank Fazio, president and CEO of Amplifica, stated, “Closing this oversubscribed round reflects strong investor conviction in the science behind our injectable approach and in the size of the opportunity it addresses.”

“This capital allows us to accelerate our mission to deliver next-generation products to patients confronting the physical and emotional challenges of hair loss.”

Market Opportunity and Clinical Rationale

Androgenetic alopecia, the most common form of hair loss, affects an estimated 80 million adults in the United States alone, including more than 50 million men and 30 million women, according to data cited from institutions such as NYU Langone Health.

Despite this prevalence, existing standards of care, including finasteride and minoxidil, offer only modest improvements in hair count and are limited by poor patient compliance, tolerability issues, side-effect concerns, and limited efficacy in women.

Amplifica’s pipeline targets signalling molecules that regulate the hair follicle growth cycle, aiming to overcome these shortcomings by reactivating dormant follicles through multiple complementary mechanisms of action.

Wajdie Ahmad, co-founder and executive chairman at Amplifica, noted that the company’s discovery platform has yielded candidates that activate follicle regeneration via distinct pathways, and advancing multiple mechanisms in parallel maximizes the probability of clinical success.

Amplifica’s approach builds on foundational research revealing that osteopontin molecules, identified in studies involving moles at the University of California, Irvine, play a key role in stimulating follicle stem cells to drive hair growth.

Leveraging this insight, the company has developed a proprietary portfolio of signalling molecules intended to mimic and enhance these natural regenerative signals.

By pursuing a multi-mechanism injectable strategy, Amplifica aims to deliver durable, clinically meaningful hair regrowth with a treatment profile that improves upon the daily application burden and variable outcomes associated with current topical and oral therapies.

Broader Industry Context

The funding announcement comes amid heightened industry focus on follicle-centric innovation.

Recent developments include Pharmactive Biotech Products’ launch of Kyoh, a nutricosmetic arugula leaf extract backed by scientific research for hair follicle support, and Live Conscious’s Clinical Hair Growth+ supplement featuring Serevelle, a saw palmetto extract shown in a double-blind, placebo-controlled study to increase hair growth by 35% in 90 days.

Additionally, research from 2025 suggested that stevioside, a natural sweetener from the stevia plant, can enhance the solubility and efficacy of minoxidil when delivered via dissolving microneedle patches, pointing to growing interest in combination and delivery innovations.
