Global skincare market to reach USD 227B by 2034, report finds

Demand for organic, vegan and clean-label items, biodegradable exfoliants, and recyclable or refillable packaging is prompting brands to reformulate and reposition offerings.

GLOBAL – Global skincare sales are on track to nearly double over the next decade, with the market forecast to grow from about USD 129.1 billion in 2026 to roughly USD 227.1 billion by 2034, representing a compound annual growth rate of 7.32%, according to a report by Fortune Business Insights.

The sector was valued at USD 122.11 billion in 2025 and is being driven by rising consumer spending, growing awareness of skin health, and demand for cleaner, ingredient-focused formulations.

Asia Pacific remains the dominant region, accounting for just over half (51.46%) of global revenue in 2025 after reaching USD 62.84 billion; the region is expected to expand further into 2026 and beyond as disposable incomes and beauty consciousness rise across China, India, Japan and Southeast Asia.

North America and Europe together hold a substantial share.

North America recorded USD 23.99 billion in 2025, supported by heightened interest in organic and dermatologist-recommended products.

On the other hand, Europe captured about 17.69% of the market, buoyed by strong demand for premium products in markets such as Germany, France and the U.K.

Product-wise, creams lead consumer preference, representing about one-third (33.1%) of the market in 2026 due to their versatility across moisturizing, brightening, anti-acne and sun‑care uses.

Packaging trends favour tubes for convenience and hygiene, expected to command nearly half (49.83%) of the packaging share in 2026, though bottles and eco-friendly formats are gaining traction.

Women accounted for the bulk of sales, at 83.4% in 2026, but men’s grooming and targeted face-care lines are expanding the addressable market.

Key drivers include consumers’ shift toward natural, sustainable and science-backed solutions, which is reshaping product development.

In addition, technological innovations such as AI-powered at-home devices for personalized skincare are also emerging as growth catalysts, exemplified by recent smart-dispensing products.

The pandemic temporarily disrupted distribution and sales, and lockdowns hampered retail operations, channel relationships, and raw‑material supply chains, denting revenues in 2020.

Going forward, omnichannel strategies that combine cosmetic stores, supermarkets, and growing online platforms (which held about 29.7% share in 2026) are central to recovery and expansion.

Key markets to watch include the U.S., projected to reach USD 30.4 billion by 2032, and fast-growing national markets within the Asia Pacific, such as China (USD 25.96 billion by 2026), India (USD 9.81 billion) and Japan (USD 6.59 billion).

Major players are increasingly competing on sustainability, ethical sourcing and ingredient transparency to capture evolving consumer preferences.
