Surya Brasil strengthens Indian market presence with tailored hair care range

The company outperformed the hair colour category by 16 % points, according to NielsenIQ data.

INDIA – Surya Brasil, a Brazilian clean beauty brand specializing in henna-based hair colour, is significantly expanding its operations in India amid a 30% global growth surge, particularly driven by strong U.S. performance.

This strategic scaling builds on the brand’s presence in over 40 countries and taps into India’s growing demand for natural, sustainable hair-care solutions.

This surge underscores growing global consumer preference for clean beauty alternatives free of harsh chemicals such as ammonia, PPD, ethanolamine, and triethanolamine.

Clelia Angelon, Founder and CEO of Surya Brasil, said, “At Surya Brasil, we have always believed that what you apply to your hair and skin matters.”

“India has been an inspiration to us through Ayurveda, and expanding our portfolio here feels both strategic and meaningful.”

Surya Brasil plans to boost its flagship Henna Cream, which contains up to 98% natural ingredients for full grey coverage and hair nourishment, while rolling out new lines including Colour Fixation, Hair Therapy, Balanced Cleansing Shampoo, Nourishment and Protection conditioner, Brazilian Vegetable Keratin, Force line, Bio Finishers, Henna Clean, and Henna Force.

These additions target scalp care, hair strengthening, and complete clean-beauty routines for both salons and direct consumers, supported by increased marketing and trade investments to expand distribution.

To drive this initiative, Surya Brasil appointed Herjit S. Bhalla as Chief Executive Officer for its India Business, effective April 15, 2026.

Bhalla brings extensive experience from roles at Hershey and other firms, reporting to the re-designated Global CEO Mohit Malhotra.

India’s hair care market is valued at around USD 4.1 billion in 2026 and is projected to grow steadily, reaching about USD 5.2 billion by 2031, according to a report by Mordor Intelligence.

It is one of the fastest-evolving personal care segments, driven by rising disposable incomes, urbanization, and demand for premium and natural products.

Headquartered in São Paulo with hubs in Houston and Milan, Surya Brasil emphasizes ethical formulations, responsible sourcing, and international manufacturing standards in its India push.
