Laboratoire launches Blue Cell Elixir nutricosmetic supplement

FRANCE – Laboratoire PYC, a contract manufacturer of high-protein products and food supplements, has introduced Blue Cell Elixir, a powdered nutricosmetic supplement designed to address growing demand for beauty-from-within products. 

Developed and manufactured in France, the white-label concept combines 500 mg of Novastyne Glow, a clinically evaluated collagen-derived peptide and amino-acid complex from Novactiva, with liposomal vitamin C, zinc, niacin, biotin and retinol. 

The formulation can be adapted by brand owners for their own product portfolios and targets several skin-related functions, including normal collagen formation, protection of cells from oxidative stress, cell division and cellular specialization.

Blue Cell Elixir is supplied in 2 g powder sachets, with one sachet intended to be mixed into 100 ml of water. 

The resulting blue-colored drink is central to the product’s sensory and visual identity, giving the supplement a more distinctive consumption experience than conventional capsules or tablets. 

Aurélie De Schuyteneer, marketing and communications manager at Laboratoire PYC, said the company’s nutricosmetics strategy has remained focused since 2010 on combining scientific expertise and consumer understanding to develop beauty-from-within concepts that are effective, appealing and naturally inspired. She added that the product is based on documented active ingredients, considered dosages, clean-label formulation principles and an enjoyable daily routine.

At the centre of the formula is Novastyne Glow, which Laboratoire says was developed to support the skin’s natural renewal processes. 

The complex delivers 500 mg per daily serving and was assessed in a randomised, double-blind, placebo-controlled study involving 66 participants. Researchers measured skin parameters after 30 and 60 days of daily supplementation at the 500 mg dose. According to the results cited by Laboratoire, skin hydration increased by 6.5% after 30 days and by 9.1% after 60 days. 

Skin elasticity rose by 2.8% at 60 days, while wrinkle measures also improved, including a 7.9% reduction in wrinkle depth, a 9.5% decrease in surface area, a 4.4% reduction in length and a 4.1% decrease in roughness.

The study also indicated a 3.8% reduction in skin deformation after 60 days, which the researchers associated with improved skin firmness and resilience. Participant-reported outcomes were similarly positive: 96.9% of respondents said their skin felt firmer and more radiant, while 94% reported that it felt more hydrated. 

These results relate specifically to the Novastyne Glow ingredient study and should not automatically be interpreted as clinical validation of every claim for the complete Blue Cell Elixir formulation.

Laboratoire has paired the peptide complex with liposomal vitamin C, a delivery format intended to improve ingredient stability and availability. 

The vitamin C is enclosed in phosphatidylcholine vesicles, designed to protect it during storage and as it passes through the digestive system. 

The system demonstrated sustained absorption in an in-vitro Caco-2 intestinal model, while Novastyne Glow showed controlled intestinal transport intended to enable more gradual absorption. 

Laboratoire further cites clinical data indicating about 30% higher total plasma exposure for the liposomal vitamin C ingredient than conventional vitamin C, as well as higher blood concentrations at 10 and 24 hours after intake.
